Fowler Welch increases 'core' business service for Worldwide Fruit

Fowler Welch has increased its work with Worldwide Fruit, boosting its annual volume with the retailer by around 50%.

The operator has worked with the fruit retailer for 20 years, proving transportation and storage of pallets of produce.

The additional work includes distributing more apples and pears from depots in Spalding and Teynham, and from a packing site in Kent.

Lincolnshire-based Worldwide Fruit has also seen a surge in its avocado and stone fruit business, which prompted the need for an increase in service from Fowler Welch.

The operator said it has been able to consolidate the additional product volume into its existing transport operation for Worldwide Fruit.

David Cooke, key account manager at Fowler Welsh, said: “When Worldwide Fruit started looking to increase their volumes, they required a storage solution away from their current Spalding warehouse as well as a potential requirement for a small pack house and through our extensive network, we were in a position to offer both.

"Due to our existing knowledge of the business’s requirements, we were able to consolidate the additional transport volumes onto our current orders, creating a solution that worked for both parties.”

Worldwide Fruit operations director, Neal Collishaw (pictured) said: “Having worked with Fowler Welch for many years, we are well aware of the first class service they offer day-to-day, as well as going above and beyond to find specific solutions that work for our business.

When the expanded service is in full swing, Fowler Welch will store and transport around 56,000 pallets of Worldwide Fruit produce per anum.
