Wincanton said trading had been resilient during the first six months of 2020, with a focus on opportunities in growth markets starting to reap benefits.
In a trading update ahead of its half-year results, the 3PL said its digital and e-fulfilment business had experienced increased demand for online retail, while business wins across the rest of the group had been encouraging.
Notable contract wins include an online home delivery service for Waitrose; e-fulfilment operations with Dwell, Loaf and Wickes; additional Morrisons transport services and a PPE storage solution to support the NHS.

An update to the market on 9 September that the Wincanton board expected results for the current year to be materially ahead of expectations remains unchanged.
Chief executive James Wroath said: “I continue to be extremely proud of how our people are responding to the demands placed on them by the coronavirus pandemic.
“When we outlined our strategy earlier this year, we stated our commitment to focus our business on opportunities in growth markets.
“The new contracts we have secured are clear evidence that this strategy is being implemented and is working.”
