TEF Transport in Scarborough has entered administration with around 60 jobs potentially at risk.

The haulier had filed its intention to enact insolvency proceedings last month, and FRP Advisory Trading were then appointed to the business last week (9 December).

The administrator did not respond to our enquiries for a comment, but traffic commissioner records showed it still held a valid operator licence for 44 lorries and 88 trailers running out of three operating centres, in Scarborough, Bradford and Dewsbury.

The haulier has been trading since 1970 and provides third-party logistics and warehousing solutions across the UK.

The company specialises in chilled and general transport services and operates a 75,000sq ft warehousing facility.

Its last set of published accounts, for the year ending 31 December 2022, showed that it employed 58 staff – 47 of which were drivers and support.

At the time, TEF said that 2023 had seen a slowdown in trading compared to the previous year, with post-pandemic corrections and the slowdown in the general economy impacting the sectors it operated within.

A spokesman for Palletforce said it had already replaced the postcode area the haulier covered with two neighbouring members.
