Clipper Logistics has won a contract with supermarket chain Morrisons for the distribution of its new Nutmeg clothing range, which was launched in March.
The Nutmeg operation is being serviced from one of Clipper’s sites in Leeds that used to house an operation for Asda, which has since been moved to a new Clipper site at Wynyard Park on Teesside. The Morrisons contract involves receipt, quality control, storage of flat and hanging garments, and picking of goods, as well as deliveries to Morrisons stores nationwide and the handling of returns.
Graeme Douglas, non-food supply director at Morrisons, said Clipper was “an obvious choice” for the contract. “The team has worked tirelessly to ensure we hit our tight timelines and have yet again proved they are agile and very capable,” he commented.
A spokesman for Clipper said the Morrisons contract accounted for the full capacity of the Leeds warehouse. The logistics supplier has declined to say, however, how many staff are employed at the site or whether any of its employees there were made redundant, following the transfer of the Asda operation to the Wynyard Park hub, which began operating last October.
