Wincanton has signed a ‘sweet’ new contract with British Sugar, the company responsible for around half of the UK’s sugar.
Under the new three-year deal, Wincanton will transport 275,000 tonnes of sugar every year, predominantly from British Sugar’s Wissington base to locations across the UK.
Wincanton will also work with British Sugar’s customer management team at the company’s Peterborough HQ, in order to optimise the operation’s efficiency.
Wincanton MD Chris Kingshott said: “This new contract is testament to the effectiveness of our solutions and we are delighted to welcome British Sugar to our growing transport portfolio.
“We are looking forward to developing a long term relationship with British Sugar through adding value through effective solutions, and delivering excellent customer service.”
Matt Lee, British Sugar’s commercial and supply chain director, said: “At British Sugar, we strive to achieve excellence in service, production and distribution.
“As the leading supplier of sugar to the UK market with a long and proud tradition, we maintain our position by anticipating and meeting the needs of our customers. When selecting a commercial partner, it is crucial that they can both match these standards and add value.”
