Ian Veitch, currently MD of Yusen Logistics UK, is to head up its entire operations across Europe from April.
Veitch, who has been with the business since 1994, will become MD of Yusen Logistics (Europe) and the first non-Japanese executive officer at Yusen worldwide. He will move to Yusen’s European HQ in Amsterdam next month.
He began his career at the company 20 years ago as MD of its UK subsidiary UCI Logistics, He became chief executive of NYK’s merged logistics businesses (incorporating road, air and sea) in 2005 before leading the merger of Yusen Air & Sea and NYK Logistics to form Yusen Logistics in the UK in 2011.
Last year he was also appointed as president of the FTA, having joined its board in 2008.
In the past six months Yusen has extended contracts with Nissan and Honda, as well as expanding its relationship with LG Electronics.
