Eddie Stobart Logistics and Lomas Distribution have entered into a partnership whereby the Buxton-based powder and aggregates firm will provide training for the high-profile haulier’s drivers.
Lomas MD Richard Lomas said the tie-up was prompted by Stobart’s move into the construction industry and his company’s expertise in this area.
“I am good friends with Stobart and it bought some powder tanks and we have been training its drivers on them. It has moved into the construction industry with vehicle grab loads and we’re working closely with it,” he said.
Lomas would not be drawn on whether the relationship would lead to further commercial announcements, but he said: “Something may come of it, we don’t know what the future holds.”
A spokesman for Eddie Stobart Logistics said the rumours that it had purchased Lomas Distribution were untrue.
