Wincanton’s new group finance director, Tim Lawlor, has assumed his new role as of today, after it was announced that he’d secured the job in early July. Wincanton has won a five year contract with Rolls-Royce, which will see it store and transport generators for the UK armed forces. The firm will store the generators, which are used to power medical and communications equipment, at its shared user warehouse in Middleton, Greater Manchester. It will also pack the generators for global distribution. Wincanton has delivered a “boringly predictable” set of results for the six months to 30 September 2013, with group turnover down 1.6% at £542.3m and operating profit up 2.1% to £24.2m compared with the same period last year.
Wincanton is to reach its 20 year milestone with H J Heinz, having renewed its long-standing contract with the food giant until at least 2019.
