Hungarian operator Waberer’s has opened a subsidiary in Felixstowe in a bid to double its business in the UK.
The Budapest-based European haulage giant, which runs a fleet of more than 3,000 trucks, has also appointed Douglas French as development director of Waberer’s UK, which was incorporated at Companies House in July.
Deputy CEO Ferenc Lajkó said: “Waberer's has been transporting the goods of large English enterprises and manufacturers in the supply chain for more than half a century. By the establishment of the subsidiary in Suffolk, we move closer to our customers and will understand their needs for transport and logistics services even better. This is essential for us to provide optimum services to all our British clients”
The haulier said that it currently moves 700 full truck loads a week in the UK adding that its UK business had seen 15% growth in 2013. It described the UK as one of its largest markets generating 15% of its European full-truck load revenues.
French said: “My efforts are supported by one of Europe’s youngest, most state-of-the-art fleets of more than 3,000 own asset trucks, over one-third of which are already powered by Euro-6 engines.
"With our fleet that travels nearly 30 million kilometres on British roads every year, it gives us more than sufficient coverage of the UK”
In September, at IAA Hannover, Waberer’s signed a deal with Daf to take delivery of 1,000 Euro-6 CF and XF units.
