Uniserve has made a significant investment in LNG vehicles and longer semi-trailers (LSTs) as part of its commitment to sustainability.
The logistics and global trade management provider said it marked a decisive step towards reducing its carbon emissions and boosting its operational efficiency.
The bio-LNG tractors provide a range of 774km per tank and while this is less than the 885km offered by its diesel variants, Uniserve said the environmental benefits were substantial; it said it would achieve a 95% reduction in CO2 emissions.
The company has also installed HVO fuel tanks at its Tilbury and South Kirkby distribution centres.
The LSTs are 15.65m long and can carry 15% more goods per trip compared to standard trailers.
Uniserve said 10 LNG tractors will save 2,220 tonnes of CO2 per year, equivalent to cutting emissions by 79% compared to diesel powered trucks.
Gordon McCormick, Uniserve group transport director, said: “As the logistics industry navigates the road to net-zero emissions, Uniserve is committed to leading the way.
“Our investment in bio-LNG-powered trucks and LSTs demonstrates that sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand.
“By reducing emissions and optimising our transport operations, we are actively contributing to a greener, cleaner future.”
