TEF Transport could owe more than £1.2m just to the companies it did business with, according to newly filed papers by its administrator.

The Yorkshire haulier entered administration last month and many of its assets are now in the process of being auctioned.

It was founded in 1970 and employed around 60 staff, with depots in Scarborough, Dewsbury and Bradford.

FRP Advisory took control of its affairs on 9 December after it was appointed as the company’s administrator.

It has now lodged a document estimating that there could be around £2.6m available in total assets for unsecured creditors.

Trade and expense creditors could be owed £1.2m and it lists 85 company creditors, which includes HM Revenue and Customs, the redundancy payments office and its bank, which are estimated to be owed a total of £2.3m.

Several haulage companies are owed between £4,000 and £63,000 by TEF Transport, although none had commented as we went to press.

Palletforce is estimated to be owed £63,000, TIP Trailer Services £68,000 and UPN’s billing arm Safeguard more than £5,500.

More than £400,000 is also estimated to be owed to a range of recruitment firms and it owes the local authority over £24,000 in business rates.

Bidding via BPI’s online auction on more than 200 lots belonging to the haulier will end on 29 January.
