Bolton-based freight forwarder Tailormade Logistics UK, which also has depots across Europe, has closed down.

Insolvency practitioner BDO said the company had been loss-making and its director Bert Vandecaveye had no alternative but to place the business into administration last week (12 February).

Although it had offices in the North West and in Birmingham and provided transport and logistics services by road, rail, air and sea, the administrator confirmed that it did not operate its own fleet of lorries in the UK.

It specialised in automotive, fashion, industrial goods and FMCGs and its parent company is based in the Netherlands.

The last available set of accounts for Tailormade Logistics showed that it generated revenues of more than £7m in 2023, but it reported a pre-tax loss of £587,000.

Ben Peterson, one of the joint administrators at BDO, said: “Tailormade Logistics UK Limited effectively ceased operations just prior to administration, meaning it is not thought that any customer parcels remained in transit when we were appointed.

“Regrettably, it has been necessary to make all five employees redundant, and administrators are supporting affected staff to make their claims to the redundancy payments service.

“Administrators are now working with the director to maximise returns from the debtor ledger and other assets for the benefit of creditors.”

The administrators continue to be supported by Squire Patton Boggs solicitors.

The freight forwarder closed down on 12 February.
