Suttons Group has strengthened its presence in the UK biofuels logistics market after winning a major deal with bioethanol producer Vivergo.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum and contract term, follows Suttons’ decision earlier this year to quit its long term logistics contract with British Sugar to focus on the hazardous chemicals, gases and fuels sectors.
This latest win sees Suttons, which has a fleet of more than 700 tankers, distributing bioethanol from Vivergo’s Humberside facility to petroleum sites around the UK.
It is the first time it has worked with Vivergo.
Greg Lofts, commercial director at Suttons Tankers, said: “Our reputation in this niche sector is well established with Vivergo the latest business to be attracted by our track record of providing a flexible, reliable, and safe service.
East Yorkshire-based Vivergo said it was attracted to Suttons’ safety performance and its ability to provide flexible solutions.
Vivergo supply chain manager Rob Murray added: “It’s reassuring to be working with a specialist logistics company which has a detailed knowledge of the products as well as access to drivers and operational planners who understand the complexities of our business.”
