GreenWhiteStar Acquisitions has reassured members of the Eddie Stobart fan club and shop that it plans a re-launch later this year.
The move comes after several members told motortransport.co.uk that they had received no communications or published material during 2020, despite paying an advance membership fee of £18.99 in December 2019.
Established in 1992 and now rebranded as the Stobart Club and Shop, fully paid up members would normally expect a spotter’s handbook every six months, in addition to two issues of the company’s ‘Spot On / Steady Eddie,’ magazine and a merchandise catalogue during the year.
One member, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “It’s all very disappointing. I’ve been a member of the Eddie Stobart Fan Club since it began in 1992 and despite paying our dues in advance, we’ve had nothing delivered or no communications during 2020.”
A spokesperson for GreenWhiteStar Acquisitions Ltd said: “Eddie Stobart acquired the brand along with the Stobart Club and Shop from Stobart Group in May 2020. Eddie Stobart haven’t taken any membership payments since we took this over and have returned any un-cashed cheques to members that have been received. Any payment that was made to Stobart Group prior to May, we are in the process of offering a refund or extending their membership.
“As members join at different times of the year, this varies greatly across the memberships, although it is not a significant number of people.
"We are unable to contact members all together due to GDPR and if they have opted out of e-mail contacts, so this is being done on a reactive basis at the moment, when the members contact us.
"Our plan is to re-launch the shop and members club in spring / summer 2021, once we can hopefully see an end to the pandemic.”
