Financial figures published for Archbold Logistics showed that trading at the Greater Manchester business remained virtually unchanged from the previous year, against a backdrop of increasing costs.
Turnover in the year ending 31 December 2023 was just £59,000 less than the year before, at £28.6m and pre-tax profit increased by £7,000 to £1.4m.
A breakdown of where revenue was generated showed that although it decreased by around £600,000 in the UK, it rose by more than £500,000 in the rest of the world.
In its review of the business the Heywood company, which holds operator licences in four traffic areas, said it was striving to improve efficiencies.
“As part of the company’s commitment to minimising the environmental impact of growth, it has invested in the acquisition of several longer semi-trailers to reduce the number of trips over time,” it said.
“The directors plan to continue moving the business forward towards its long-term objectives and generate profitable sales growth over the coming years.
“Archbold Logistics will continue to focus on markets where it has leadership, success and experience.
“A challenge moving forward is to continue the growth of the business in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.”
Last year, Archbold Logistics took delivery of 12 new Iveco S-Way 490s to support its growing contract logistics arm.
