Archbold Logistics said it spent 2024 investing in fuel-efficient HGVs to offset cost pressures, as latest figures for the Rochdale headquartered company showed reduced profits on the previous year.

Pre-tax profit was £1.2m for the year ending 31 December, 15.4% lower than in 2023 when it was £1.4m. Operating profit reduced by a similar amount to £1.2m (£1.5m).

However, the haulage and warehousing firm added £263,000 to its revenues, taking it to £28.8m in the period.

Three-quarters of its turnover was derived within the United Kingdom, with £7.2m generated internationally.

Archbold Logistics said a challenge moving forward was growing the business in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.

“During the year, the company continued to invest in modern, fuel-efficient tractor units and other key operational areas to enhance productivity and offset the impact of ongoing cost pressures,” Archbold Logistics said in a business review.

“These investments form part of our long-term strategy to improve efficiency, support sustainable growth and strengthen the company’s competitive position.”

The company currently holds licences in four traffic areas and has authorisation to run between two and 50 HGVs out of each of its operating centres.
