Boughey Distribution has installed 28 Rite-Hite Eclipse dock shelters at its warehousing site in Staffordshire to prevent unwanted airflow and saving on the cost of wasted energy.

The haulier identified a water ingress issue after moving into the new distribution centre in Lymedale, which highlighted an inefficient loading bay with gaps leading to a needless waste of energy.

It turned to Rite-Hite after an unsuccessful attempt to solve the problem with a third party inflatable dock shelter solution.

And after a successful trial of the Eclipse dock shelter solution, Rite-Hite has now fitted 28 across the site.

The Eclipse Shelter blocks both light and seals gaps for a dark, environmentally secure dock.

They block light and seal gaps for a dark, environmentally secure dock and also help protect people, materials and goods by preventing wind, rain, snow and pests from entering.

John Houghton, facilities manager at Boughey Distribution, said the Eclipse dock shelter was delivering benefits and energy savings: “It was clear from the outset our previous system was not working effectively; water leaked through and if left unchecked would create a hazardous environment for our workers,” he explained.

“The team at Rite-Hite have made this process as easy as possible for us. The Eclipse has made our loading dock operations safer and more efficient.

“Following the successful trial period and install at Lymedale, we are considering extending the Rite-Hite solution across our network.”
