Firms owed money following the collapse of H. Parkinson Haulage last year are likely to be paid back at least some of their cash, according to latest estimations by its administrator.

The Preston haulier closed in August 2024 after more than 60 years of trading following a dispute with its landlord over repair costs.

In a progress report, FRP Advisory said it had received £244,800 from an associated business, HPH Transport Holdings, for unencumbered assets including vehicles, trailers, tractor units and forklift trucks.

It also accepted an offer of £50,000 for 10 curtainsider tri-axle trailers.

H. Parkinson’s employees are estimated to be owed over £11,000 in arrears and holiday pay and FRP said it anticipated they would be paid in full.

The administrator added: “We anticipate that there will be sufficient funds available to make a distribution to unsecured creditors in due course under the prescribed part, the exact quantum – pence in the pound – is currently unknown.

“Unsecured creditor claims are anticipated to exceed £3m and creditors will be advised of the distribution in future reports.”

The haulier had an extensive fleet of vehicles and trailers and a workforce exceeding 120 staff, including over 100 drivers and warehouse operatives.
