A Waitrose lorry was left hanging over the edge of a lake on Saturday (26 July) for more than three hours, after veering off the road on Thamesway in Northfleet.
The lorry was left partially submerged in the water following the accident, which happened in the early hours of Saturday.
Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended the accident with six fire engines and two water safety units in attendance.
Fire crews used cutting equipment and a water safety kit to rescue the driver from the vehicle.
The road was shut in both directions, from Ebbsfleet Gateway to Springhead Road, while the rescue operation was carried out.
The closure continued for nine hours, with the road finally reopening at 2.30pm.
Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 4.25am on Saturday 26 July 2025 to reports that a lorry had entered the water near Thames Way, Northfleet.”
The statement added: “No injuries were reported.”
A Waitrose spokesperson said: “Thankfully nobody was injured and we’re grateful for the swift response of the emergency services.
“All our drivers are trained to the highest standards to deal with unforeseen accidents such as this.”
