After receiving almost 1,000 votes from the truck driving community across Europe, haulage’s digital marketplace SNAP has announced its shortlist for its first Truckstop of the Year award.
SNAP said it was a ”hotly contested” competition involving parking sites across Europe - with over 100 truck parks nominated.
Truck drivers were asked to vote for their favourite truck stop in December 2023, with the poll closing on 14th January 2024, after hundreds of drivers voted for their favourite sites.
The shortlisted finalists are the Red Lion Truck Stop in Upper Heyford, Harpole, Northampton; the Chippenham Pit Stop at Oakleigh Acres M4 motorway, Draycot Cerne, Chippenham; Route 74 Truckstop at Lesmahagow, Lanark; and the Rasthof Körfez 61 at Wiesentheid, Germany.
The winner will be announced at the RSS Expo and Awards on 21 March 2024, at Carden Park in Chester - where an array of other industry award categories will also be won.
Myra McPartlin, SNAP head of commercial sales, said: “We wanted the truck stop of the year to be decided by the drivers who use them daily, and although it is the first time, we asked drivers to vote for their most-loved truck stops, we are blown away by the response rate from our audience.
“The votes showed the popularity of a vast range of truck parking options across Europe. We look forward to the awards evening, announcing the first winner of SNAP’s Truckstop of the Year, and continuing the new tradition in 2025.”
SNAP is set to launch next year’s Truckstop of the Year in Autumn 2024. and is calling on truck drivers to make their vote count.
