CV hire and fleet management specialist Prohire is continuing to strengthen its senior management team with the appointment of Dean Bailey as operations director.

Bailey brings almost 40 years’ of fleet industry experience to his new post, including his time in senior operational leadership roles at Ryder and, more recently, Hexagon Leasing.

His appointment follows a number of recent management appointments at Prohire this year, including the promotion of Susan Shardlow to the role of chief financial officer (CFO) from her post as Prohire interim CFO in August, and the promotion of chief operating officer Jay Edwards to the new post of managing director in February.

In the same month Prohire recruited John Robinson, fomer Ryder fleet sales director, as chief commercial officer.

In his new role as operations director, Bailey will have overall board responsibility for the maintenance of Prohire’s fleet, which includes vehicles from its alternative fuels division Progreen.

He is also tasked with the ongoing development of Prohire’s service, maintenance and repair (SMR) network, which includes overseeing the company’s vehicle maintenance nits (VMUs) in Stoke-on-Trent and Tunbridge Wells and its fleet of mobile technicians which services customers nationwide.

Bailey’s brief will also cover responsibility for fleet engineering and all aspects of fleet compliance.

Speaking about his new role, Bailey said: “I’m genuinely excited about joining Prohire, a company with a wide-ranging fleet, touching every part of the industry and serving a diverse range of customers.

“I’ve been in this industry for almost 40 years and it’s great to come to a company that’s thinking outside the box, proactively pushing the boundaries of service delivery and going the extra mile to support customers.

“I’m looking forward to what the future brings, especially in the area of alternative fuels, which Prohire has embraced through Progreen.”

Jay Edwards, Prohire managing director, added: “Dean is a commercial vehicle contract hire industry veteran with a vast amount of experience. His knowledge and expertise will be invaluable to Prohire as we move forwards and continue to optimise our service delivery, and I’m delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Prohire, which is headquartered in Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, employs over 90 staff and provides nationwide commercial vehicle rental and long-term vehicle contract hire, together with fleet maintenance, accident repair management, and fleet compliance to customers across the UK.
