Parcel delivery firm Evri Group has launched the first wave of its owned locker network after forging two partnerships with supermarket giant Tesco and forecourt operator Motor Fuel Group (MFG).

The partnership with Tesco kicks off with a trial of the Evri branded lockers. The lockers will offer fast pick-up and drop-off, contact-free functionality, QR code access and print-at-locker capability.

These will be installed at a small number of Tesco Extra and Superstore locations across the UK, building on an existing Tesco Clubcard partnership, which lets customers earn points on every parcel they send through Evri, with one point per £1 spent.

The partnership with MFG will see the installation of 500 new lockers at forecourts across the UK, with the roll-out beginning this month and continuing through spring.

Many locations include on-site retail brands such as Morrisons Daily, Subway and Starbucks.

News of the two partnerships follows the company’s announcement of a £50m investment to more than double its ParcelShop and locker estate by 2030. Evri has partnered with Bloq.it on the development of these new lockers, commissioning at least 1,000 units.

Evri said the two partnerships will expand Evri’s network and provide millions of customers with more convenient ways to send, receive and return parcels.

Liam Rogan, Evri head of ParcelShop and Locker Network, said: “By partnering with Tesco and Motor Fuel Group in launching the first wave of our lockers, we’re reinforcing our commitment to a choice of quality delivery methods.”

“Evri’s own data shows that customers value convenience when it comes to deliveries, so with Tesco stores and Motor Fuel Group forecourts at the heart of so many communities, there will be easy access to Evri services alongside filling up or picking up essentials.”

“Together, these partnerships will provide shoppers with even more flexibility to send, receive, and return parcels in a way that suits them, reflecting how consumer behaviour is continuing to evolve.”

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We’re constantly looking for ways to make the shopping trip even more convenient for our customers, and as part of a small locker hub partner trial across a small number of stores, where we are bringing a number of providers together, we’re pleased to introduce Evri lockers across a selected small number of stores.”

A Motor Fuel Group spokesperson says: “With the roll-out of Evri’s lockers across 500 Motor Fuel Group sites, this new partnership brings together two brands focused on everyday convenience.

“Together we’re able to give customers greater flexibility to send, collect and return parcels as part of their regular routines, while enhancing the role our forecourts play in local communities and adding real value for our retail partners.”
