Another well-established haulage business is facing serious financial problems after being served with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue and Customs.
Lancashire-based Ian Robinson Transport did not respond to our requests for comment, but records showed that HMRC lodged its winding-up notice against the firm last month and it is due to be heard in the High Court on 22 July.
HMRC said it was a creditor of the haulage company.
The firm began in 2010 when MD Ian Robinson acquired his first truck and it has grown into a business with an international operator licence authorising 25 HGVs and 55 trailers running out of bases in St Helens and Bamber Bridge, Preston.
The transport company describes itself as a general haulier but it also specialises in hazardous waste transport too.
It runs a range of 44-tonne trucks along with curtain-sided, flat bed and box trailers.
Its last available set of financial results revealed that the average number of employees at Ian Robinson Transport was 30 in 2024.
