Leicestershire operator S&B Haulage has entered voluntary liquidation just three months after advertising for drivers following new contract wins and fleet expansion.
The Coalville-based business, founded in 2021, resolved to wind up the company at a general meeting on 6 July, with Deviesh Raikundalia of Hall Chadwick (UK) appointed as liquidator. The appointment was published in The Gazette on 17 July.
Creditors have been invited to submit claims by 12 August.
S&B Haulage, which was based at Whitegates Farm, Wash Lane, Ravenstone, held an operator’s licence for 15 trucks and 15 trailers.
The company provided bulk tipping, general haulage, traction and low-loader services, supplying the construction sector with aggregates, sand, gravel, asphalt and recycled materials.
S& B Haulage also held Silver accreditation under the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) and was a member of the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC).
The liquidation comes despite the company announcing in April that it was recruiting additional drivers after securing new contracts and expanding its fleet.
In a post on its Facebook page, S&B Haulage said it was creating “multiple vacancies” following recent contract awards and described itself as a growing family-run business.
However, the latest accounts filed at Companies House, covering the year to 31 January 2025, showed the business remained under financial pressure.
The balance sheet recorded net liabilities of £300,000, compared with net liabilities of £204,000 a year earlier. Current liabilities more than doubled current assets, with creditors due within one year totalling £929,000 against current assets of £419,000.
Fixed assets increased significantly during the year to £682,000 from £394,000, suggesting continued investment in vehicles and equipment despite the company’s deteriorating balance sheet.
No statement explaining the reasons for the liquidation has been released by the company or the liquidator.
