LHT Logistics has celebrated a quarter century in business and its move from hospitality to haulage with a fleet upgrade and an expansion into new regional territories.
The business was found in 2001 by father and Jack and Ben Ruby after their family stepped back from running the 270-year-old London Hospital Tavern.
They launched a local courier service out of a 1,000sq ft warehouse in Edmonton and over the next 25 years the firm transformed into a long-distance logistics provider and shareholder member of the Pall-Ex network.
Today it operates a fleet of 15 vehicles and is supported by a 30-strong team at its hub near the M25.
In addition to its fleet of Renault trucks, LHT has recently purchased two MAN vehicles; an investment it said formed part of a strategic decision to pivot toward long-distance general haulage.
Positioned on the orbital motorway, the depot services key routes across North London, Hertfordshire and Essex, while also providing daily nationwide trunking across the country.
LHT added that it had also recently taken on additional network territory, including Harlow, Bishops Stortford and Stanstead, driving a significant surge in turnover over the last six months.
MD Ben Ruby said: “Reaching 25 years is a massive milestone for us and it’s a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.
“We’ve come a long way from our courier days in Edmonton, but through every stage of growth our focus has remained on family values, looking after our people and investing back into the business.
“Investing in our fleet and expanding our territory are crucial steps to the next chapter of growth for us, but our biggest strength will always be the people behind the business – those on the road, in our warehouse or in our office.”
At Pall-Ex’s annual awards, LHT Logistics’ team took home the ‘Pall-Ex Depot of the Year’ title. Commenting on their partnership, Barry Byers, Pall-Ex Group’s COO, said: “LHT Logistics has built a fantastic business over the last 25 years.
“They are proof of what can be accomplished when a business stays true to its core values, all while investing in its future.”
