Leicestershire firm CC & RJ Emerson has called in the administrators, adding to the growing list of UK hauliers falling by the wayside.

The family-run haulage firm is based at Coalville in Leicestershire and employs around 50 people. It operates a fleet of 35 tractor units, five rigid 8-wheelers, and 40 trailers.

The 100-year-old haulage company specialises in bulk transport, waste, recycling and aggregate transportation,as well as general haulage.

CC and RJ Emerson filed a notice of intention to appointment administrators on 3 April and appointed Miles Needham and John Lowe of FRP Advisory as joint administrators the following day.

In February James Emerson transferred his shareholding to Emerson’s managing director Daniel Emerson.

In the same month Kjell-Ove Edstrom, who joined the company in 2023, resigned, just weeks after being appointed as financial director.
