Online supermarket Ocado has created more than 1,000 driving, warehousing and operational support jobs as it looks to increase capacity in its network this year.
It is looking for 800 more warehousing staff to pick, pack and load home delivery orders at its distribution centre in Dordon, Warwickshire.
Ocado also hopes to fill 100 delivery driver roles at its Ruislip, north-west London depot, and is recruiting a further 80 drivers at its site in Wimbledon.
It is also seeking IT technicians at its hub in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The operator began transferring volume from Hatfield to its Dordon site earlier this year.
Ocado’s HR director Julie Markey said: “Every role is critical to our success, from keeping our website running smoothly, to packing groceries and delivering them into our customers' kitchens.
“We’re delighted to announce the creation of 1,000 new jobs as we continue to develop our business here in the UK and abroad.”
Earlier this year, the operator revealed plans to invest £100m in its vehicles, hubs and depots in 2014 as it looks to increase capacity in its network.
Half of its Dordon site is now occupied by Morrisons, which signed a 25-year deal with Ocado last year to use its warehousing space and IT systems to launch its online grocery shopping service.
