Evri has assured customers and clients that delivery schedules are back on track after its cycling courier partner Pedal & Post closed down “without notice” last month.
The e-cargo bike delivery firm said it had lost a major client and it could no longer sustain its business model.
Oxford-based Pedal & Post was founded in 2013 and it had only recently expanded into London, undertaking parcel deliveries with cargo bikes and helping reduce carbon emissions as well as travelling freely within clean air zones.
In a post on social media, the firm said it was “with the heaviest of hearts” that it had been forced to close both its Oxford and London branches.
“Earlier this year, we lost a major client,” Pedal & Post said.
“Despite exploring every possible avenue to continue – and truly exhausting all options – we have reached the point where we can no longer sustain the business.
“Since our founding, Pedal & Post has worked tirelessly to show that cargo bike deliveries are not just possible, but practical, sustainable, and better for cities.”
An Evri spokesperson said it delivered more than 900 million parcels each year and that its on-time delivery rates were “industry-leading”.
The spokesperson added: “We were disappointed to learn that our e-cargo bike delivery partner, Pedal and Post, ceased trading without notice, which caused some temporary disruption for a small number of customers in the local area.
“We have quickly re-organised deliveries in the area, and our local team are resuming normal service.”
Pedal & Post’s collapse comes a year after cargo bike firm Zedify called in the administrators due to low volumes and high operational costs.
