Bakery giant Warburtons and 3PL provider Romac Logistics have significantly expanded their fleet numbers in the last week, Motor Transport’s Fleet Data has revealed.
MT’s weekly report includes details of over 1,000 of the UK’s fleets with O-licences for 75 or more vehicles over 3.5 tonnes GVW.
These fleets together have licences for over 300,000 trucks and 240,000 trailers – more than 540,000 commercial vehicles in total.
The latest data shows Warburtons now operates a fleet of 1,534 lorries, 92 more than the previous week. It has also been given permission to run two more trailers.
Romac has boosted its truck and trailer numbers by an additional 30 each; it now controls 410 HGVs and 417 trailers.
The holding company for Tyldesley Distribution Services, Chancelevel, has also been given permission to run 42 more trailers, taking its total to 165.
Other operators seeing fleet increases in the last week include Great Bear Distribution (up 25), Speedy Asset Services (+2) and L Lynch (Plant Hire & Haulage) (+10).
There were also fleet reductions, with Bimson Haulage downsizing to 121 lorries and 121 trailers, a reduction of 28 each and TDW Distribution reducing its trucks by 25 to 120 overall.
