Motus Group said it had signed an agreement to sell its Mercedes-Benz dealership Motus Truck & Van to Saga, the wholly owned subsidiary of RCM in France.

Motus said that while Saga operations in the UK to date had been centred on Kent, Motus Truck & Van had built a strong presence across Essex, Hertfordshire and East Anglia and so Saga could “significantly” expand its footprint.

It added that the sale would also enable Motus Group (UK) to focus on the development of its DAF operations, as well as “many other growing commercial vehicle interests, having recently acquired Aftercare Response.”

Motus said: “The group also has a major, well-established passenger car and van operation serving both fleet and private retail sectors.

“The sale is subject to certain conditions, relating primarily to the transfer of properties, which are expected to take up to a further three months.

“Until then Motus Group (UK) will continue to operate the business as usual. Once all the conditions are met and the deal completed, a further announcement will be made,” it added.

RCM purchased Sparshatt Truck & Van in December 2023 and rebranded it as Saga shortly afterwards.

RCM currently operates nearly 130 sites in continental Europe, 62 of which are Mercedes-Benz dealers for cars, vans and trucks.
