One of Glasgow’s leading removals and storage companies has had a petition to wind up operations served on it, putting at risk nearly 20 jobs.
S&B Removals, which has been in business for more than 20 years, had not responded as we went to press but papers lodged in Dumbarton Sheriff Court showed that HM Revenue and Customs had ordered it be wound up and placed into liquidation.
The notice added: “All parties claiming an interest must lodge answers with Dumbarton Sheriff Court, Church Street, Dumbarton.”
Office of the traffic commissioner records show that the company holds a licence authorising nine HGVs running out of a Clydebank base.
S&B Removals operates from a 24,000sq ft warehouse and provides removal and storage services north and south of the River Clyde.
The majority of its work is domestic removals but it has also completed work for companies such as Langs Distillers, PRG Solicitors, and the NHS.
Its last set of accounts for the year ending 31 March 2024 showed that money owed in short term debts, bills and payments had reduced by £36,000 to £341,000 during the period.
Its long-term liabilities had reduced significantly, from £393,000 in 2023 to £93,000 a year later.
The average number of employees during the period was 17.
Last month, Amer Logistics bought Knutsford-based historic removals firm Johnsons 1871 out of administration.
