Hermes handled its highest ever volume during the 2017 peak period, with year-on-year growth of 12%.

The carrier moved 9.7 million parcels in the period, which was its first peak with its new Coventry hub in action.

In its busiest week over the festive season, Hermes moved 1.6 million parcels.

It said it also saw its customer satisfaction rating hit 87, its highest point in two years for the run-up to Christmas.

The results come after a year of change at Hermes UK, which saw its former CEO Carole Walker promoted to CEO of Hermes Europe and her shoes filled by Martijn de Lange.

"On the business's peak performance, de Lange said: “Following our year of investment in infrastructure and IT in 2017, we now have one of the largest peak capacity uplift capabilities in the industry and customer satisfaction reached its highest ever score for the year.

"In 2018, we will continue to further improve our understanding of our clients and their customers’ exact requirements and further invest in [customer experience] and technology to become the carrier of choice for every UK consumer."
