John Hawksworth has left his role as MD of Birds Transport and Logistics and has been replaced by interim MD Patrice Schneider.

Hawksworth joined Birmingham-based Birds in April 2014, having formerly held the role of commercial director at AM Widdowson & Son. Birds - formerly Birds Groupage Services – was bought by Northern Irish conglomerate Ballyvesey Holdings in February 2013.

Birds told Motortransport.co.uk that Hawkswork had left the business. It is now under the direction of interim MD Patrice Schneider; his LinkedIn page says that he will hold the role from this month until March 2016, having previously worked at Gefco and DHL.

Earlier this month Birds filed a report to Companies House stating that that for the financial year-ending 30 September 2014 the company had “struggled to cope with the extra turnover it has achieved in the year with the existing structure”.

The report stated outright that the directors are “disappointed” with the results for the year, despite it narrowing its losses from £397,000 in financial year 2013 to a loss of £211,000 in 2014.

The report did not reveal turnover figures at the business.

It added “made all the critical appointments to the management team” and that the directors “firmly believe that the company is heading in the right direction, although it will be 2015 before all the changes made take effect”.
