Gist has set up a new driver training centre and it wants to use it to attract younger entrants into the industry.
The training facility in Spalding, Lincolnshire features a real static vehicle and a driver drop-in centre where three dedicated trainers will support anyone retraining to become Class 1 drivers.
Julian Bailey, Gist temperature controlled logistics MD, said: “We particularly want to attract younger drivers to help build a talent pool to support the future of this industry.
“We know that 47% of our drivers are aged over 46 and only 2% are under 25.
“With this training programme we’re confident we can attract new drivers each year and provide ongoing training to make sure Gist drivers are the best in the business.”
