Dawsongroup CEO Mike Williams is leaving the company due to ill health.
Williams, who joined the truck, trailer rental business 40 years ago, will be replaced by group MD Steve Miller (pictured). Miller will assume the CEO role.
Group chairman, Peter Dawson, paid tribute to Williams’ “energy, commitment and commercial ability,” and wished him “a speedy recovery.”
Miller said he had learnt “an awful lot” from Williams but added: “That doesn't mean my new role will be simply to deliver 'more of the same'.”
Miller said the firm will look to new areas of business under his leadership, adding: “This is a strong and successful business, more than capable of developing further in the sectors where we are already established, and in new ones going forward.”
Williams was an inaugural member of the Motor Transport Hall of Fame.
