The British crew of the 1990 World Dragon Boat Championships is reuniting to raise funds for Teesside Hospice in memory of former team mate David Preston of Prestons of Potto, who died in March.
The team will come together to compete at the Stockton-on-Tees Dragon Boat Festival on 1 September in memory of David Preston, who succumbed to kidney cancer at the age of 56.
David, who was the MD of Prestons of Potto, was the son of the son of the company's founders Richard and Anne.
All dragon boats in the Teesside event will carry up to 16 rowers and a drummer. They will race at least three times, with each team’s single fastest race time counting towards the Grand Final where all boats race together.
The winning team will be crowned Dragon Boat Champions of Tees 2019.

David Preston's former team mate Johnnie Cooper, who has set up a JustGiving page for donations, said: "As a tribute to our great friend and team mate David, his crew from the Hong Kong World Championships 1990 are organising a dragon boat team at the Tees Festival in Stockton on the 1 September to raise funds for Teesside Hospice in his memory."
All funds raised will go to Teesside Hospice, which supported David in his final weeks.
Corporate sponsorships will have the company name on the crew’s race tops.
