Prestons of Potto transport manager Jack Preston has launched a fund raising drive in honour of David Preston, who died last month.
The JustGiving Page in Memory of David Preston is raising funds for Teesside Hospice, described by Jack Preston, David's nephew, as “truly fantastic” at a very upsetting time.
The entry reads: “This page is set up in memory of David Preston who sadly passed away on 13th March 2019 at the age of 56.
“A short while ago, David was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer which spread aggressively throughout his body. This page has been set up to support Teesside Hospice, who provided David with exceptional support and comfort in his final few weeks.
“The hospice depend significantly on donations to deliver services that are crucial to both patients and families facing end-of-life crisis.
“David Preston was a much loved husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He will be remembered by many through his career at FVS and Prestons of Potto [where he was MD], most notably for the development of the heavy haulage transports which he loved.
“Outside of work David was a keen motorsports athlete, and loved spending Saturdays with his best friend Paul on his Trials Bike.”
The JustGiving page asks people to give what they can to support a fantastic charity who were amazing at a difficult time in David’s life.
Tom Rice, southern operations manager at Prestons of Potto paid tribute to his boss. “More than anyone, David was a man of his word. We did everything in this firm, as with his father [Richard], with a handshake.
A funeral for David Preston will be held at All Saints Church, Hutton Rudby at 11am on Saturday the 30 March.
