Davis Haulage, the Crewe-based chilled distribution firm, has been bought out of administration by competitor Buffaload Logistics.
Buffaload MD Julie Feltwell said she “couldn’t be happier” after she rescued the business by snapping it up for an undisclosed sum.
Feltwell declined to comment on the circumstances leading to Davis Haulage's administration, but she said she was not concerned about its financial state.
However, she added: “It was a very well run business, a really good business, they did a really good job for their customers. They had a loyal customer base.
"Clearly there were issues around why it went into administration. They were trying to operate a UK network from a single point in Crewe.”
According to Feltwell, the move has enabled Buffaload to serve all of the sector’s UK retailers and the company will be absorbed into Buffaload’s existing operation.
She also said that although 180 staff have moved across following the purchase, this does not include any of Davis Haulage’s directors.
“They’re not really involved in the day to day running of the business,” she said.
No one from the Davis Haulage Group of companies responded.
