Waste firm Recycling Lives has taken on two zero tailpipe emissions Renault E-Tech D18 Wides at its site in Preston.
They are the first electric skip loaders in the UK and will be used in daily operations, servicing commercial and household customers.
The D Wides have the capacity to complete a full day’s work on a single charge and pump out zero emissions and provide low traffic noise.
Gerry Marshall, Recycling Lives chief executive, said: “As part of our decarbonisation strategy, we are looking to further reduce our carbon footprint by using more sustainable fuel solutions, this could include for example green hydrogen which is part of our Energy from Waste project.”
The first truck has already been put into service and Recycling Lives will take delivery of the second vehicle shortly.
