The Pallet Network has gained the efficient energy management accreditation ISO 50001, laying the groundwork for cutting carbon across its operations.

The company HSEQ manager Steve Underwood said it had reviewed all its operations in terms of carbon impact and had recently boosted its health and safety team with the additions of two new health and safety assistants.

He said: “We want our operation to be sustainable and environmentally friendly and that starts with measurement and strong actionable plans.

“The ISO 50001 represents our next plan to manage energy usage.”

TPN said some of its key environmental achievements to date include vehicle utilisation at 20 percentage points higher than the national average for artic trailers; 99% of its waste is either recycled or used for energy generation; liquid waste has been cut by 100% and paper waste by 4%.

The environmental milestone came as TPN also announced it had delivered 50 million pallets since its inception in 2000.
