Volta Trucks has opened its first service hub in Paris, with plans to roll out a London hub “soon”, the manufacturer announced this week.
The Paris Volta Trucks Hub is located on a 5,000sq m plot at Bonneuil-sur-Marne, to the south-east of Paris, close to the logistics centres of Rungis, Orly, Créteil and Bonneuil where the first Volta Trucks’ customers already have distribution warehouses. The hub aims to serve more than 600 trucks per year.
The hub, which will operate eight workshop bays for the routine servicing of vehicles,
will also host admin offices, a Volta Trucks Academy training centre and a 24-hour call centre.
Volta Trucks, which launched its purpose-built full-electric 16-tonne Volta Zero in 2020, has plans to roll out further service hubs in London, Madrid, Milan, the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany, and the Randstad region of the Netherlands.
The Paris service hub will cover the south of the city, with an additional facility covering the main logistics and distribution centres planned for the north of the city.
Volta Trucks aims to open its service hubs in large metropolitan areas, close to logistics centres and multi-modal transport networks, such as rivers and railways.

The company said its network of Volta Trucks hubs will be central to the company’s Truck as a Service offer, which aims to accelerate the adoption of electric commercial vehicles by delivering a “frictionless and hassle-free way to electrify fleets, while de-risking the migration for fleet operators”.
Users of the Volta Truck as a Service pay a single monthly fee for the use of a full-electric Volta Zero vehicle, and all of its servicing, maintenance, insurance and training requirements. It also provides a replacement Volta Zero when needed, to maximise the uptime and operational efficiency of the vehicle.
Casper Norden, Volta Trucks chief fleet solutions officer, said; “The confirmation of our first Truck as a Service Hub is a significant milestone on our journey to the production of our vehicles.
“Uptime is critical for our customers, and the forthcoming opening of this facility gives our customers the confidence to know where their vehicles will be maintained to the highest standards.
“It also gives us a base for our Volta Trucks Academy training school for drivers, sales teams and the technicians who will work on the vehicles. It gives us a Hub and a home in every market, with Paris as our first. I look forward to rolling out similar facilities in London soon, and all of our other European launch cities in 2023.”
In November 2021, Volta Trucks announced Europe’s largest purchase of full-electric trucks with DB Schenker’s order of 1,470 vehicles. This followed Petit Forestier’s order of 1,000 Volta Zeros. Volta Trucks now has a total order bank of around 4,500 vehicles, with an order bank value of circa €1bn.
The Volta Zero is expected to be in operation with customers by mid-2022.
