The Pallet Network (TPN) has launched a recycling scheme which has cut members’ costs, their landfill waste and their carbon footprint. Tesco has revealed that its UK distribution operation has achieved the group’s five-year goal of halving the emissions per case of goods transported. The supermarket’s distribution operation handles 65% of all cases delivered across the global business It has done this by following its ‘F plan’, which has seen emissions per case of goods drop from 0.14kg of CO2 to 0.07kg of CO2. Tyre maker Bridgestone has become the first commercial organisation to financially back the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS). The partnership agreement will enable the FTA, which manages the scheme, to develop a series of annual low carbon awards and a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the business benefits for operators who join the scheme.
