The 2019 winners of industry’s ‘Noise Oscars’ were announced this week at a ceremony at the Palace of Westminster. Deliveries to Tesco stores in Yorkshire and the north east could be under threat due to a pay dispute at the company’s Doncaster DC, a union has warned.
Tesco has taken delivery of 25 new refrigerated longer semi-trailers in order to help it achieve its aim of reducing carbon emissions. It will operate the new trailers from its RDCs in Avonmouth, Livingston and Peterborough, and each can carry six more cages than a standard 13.6m trailer. Tesco fleet engineering manager Cliff Smith said: “That represents an increase in productivity of more than 13%, so the potential benefits in terms of reduced vehicle movements and lower emissions are obvious.” […]
