Steve Porter Transport has been added to the Knights of Old portfolio in a move that sees the group strengthen its links in the south of England.
The company, which employs around 70 staff, runs a fleet of 40 trucks and 80 trailers and has depots Portsmouth, Southampton, Newport and Cowes, where it has its headquarters.
It specialises in national and international freight services. It is a Fortec pallet network member.
Kettering-based Knights of Old said the deal will boost its turnover to more than £73m and increase the group’s fleet to 300 trucks and 350 trailers.

Ian Beattie, group MD said: “Well respected in southern England, Steve Porter Transport shares the groupʼs strategy of continued business growth achieved through operational excellence, a renewed focus on operational efficiencies and developing our greatest assets, our combined 700 staff.”

Under the deal Malcolm Gibson joins the executive board of Knights of Old Group, whilst Ian Beattie, along with Knights of Old directors Paul Abbott and Simon Nelson have been appointed to the board of Steven Porter Transport.
Founder Steve Porter has resigned from the board but will “continue mid-term as chairman and ambassador to Steve Porter Transport ensuring business continuity”, according to Knights of Old.
