2987-14-IVECO-S-WAY

IVECO has revealed its S-WAY truck at an event in Madrid (2 July), heralding the introduction of a new series of heavy trucks.

The new IVECO, which replaces the Stralis, features a new cab design, and improved aerodynamics that the manufacturer has claimed will improve fuel efficiency by up to 4% compared with the previous model.

The multi-piece bumper on the new cab has been introduced to reduce repair costs, as in the event of an impact only the affected part will need to be replaced.

The truck uses the Stralis’ existing driveline, with 9-, 11- and 13-litre engines (330hp to 570hp) and 9- and 13-litre gas engines (270hp to 460hp). They continue to be paired with the ZF-sourced Hi-Tronix transmission.

For logistics operators wishing to run a ‘green’ fleet, the IVECO S-WAY Natural Power remains the only LNG truck offering a range of up to 1,600 km for long haul missions with 460 hp.

Hubertus Mühlhäuser, CNH Industrial CEO, said: “This new flagship heavy duty truck is not only an achievement for the IVECO brand, it is also an important milestone for CNH Industrial [its parent company] as a whole”.

Right-hand drive versions of the S-WAY are expected in 2020 and the Stralis will continue to be sold until the new model is introduced.
