Aberdeen-based Dyce Carriers has opened a new depot in Grangemouth as part of plans to expand the business across central Scotland and the UK.
The company, which operates a fleet of 80-plus trucks and employs around 100 staff, said the decision to invest in the new 65,000sq ft facility in Grangemouth was part of a wider strategy to offset the impact of the downturn in Scotland’s oil and gas industry and expand the business.
The company, which operates three depots in Aberdeen, Dalgety Bay in Fife and Poole in Dorset said the newly opened site will allow it to expand its reach across the central belt of Scotland and into the rest of the UK.
Jason Moir, managing director of Dyce Carriers, said, “We recognised over the course of 2018 that there was an increase in demand for freight to be distributed to and from the Central Belt, specifically Grangemouth, due to it being the largest port in Scotland.
“The opening of the facility demonstrates our commitment to meet the demands of our clients as well as our ambition to grow the business. Going forward, the Grangemouth facility will provide us with the additional strengths that we need to attract new business from a wide range of areas.
“It will allow Dyce Carriers to uplift freight directly from ships, unload and deliver in a more streamlined operation to customers within the UK along our existing and new trunk routes.”
