Hermes has ordered 30 compressed natural gas-powered (CNG) IVECO Stralis NPs after a successful six-month trial. The parcels firm said each truck is expected to reduce the fleet’s greenhouse gas emissions by around 80% compared with a conventional diesel counterpart. Total commercial vehicle registrations fell during 2012, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), with Volvo faring the worst across the twelve month period. Registrations from January to December were down 5.9% across truck and vans, with the decline directly attributable to lower light commercial vehicle sales.
