Suttons Group is spending more than £17m upgrading 200 units on its fleet to provide capacity for the recent growth in its UK bulk tanker business. In May last year, Suttons decided to exit its long-term logistics contract with British Sugar and focus on the hazardous chemicals, gases and fuels sectors. The loss of customer Harvest Energy to Norbert Dentressangle in April 2014, after a competitive tender, has seen Suttons Group report £10.5m of discontinued activities in its UK road haulage business.
Andrew Palmer, MD at Motor Transport Award-winning Suttons Group, is to retire at the end of April. John Sutton, who currently manages the group’s international division, will take on Palmer’s responsibilities as group MD from 1 May.
