APC Overnight boosted its turnover in the year ended 31 March 2016, after it lowered its maximum parcel weight as part of an “important year” of reshaping the business.
The network recorded turnover of £102.3m, up 3.5% on the previous year’s £98.8m.
Pre-tax profit fell by 4% to £2.3m (2015: £2.4m), which the company attributed to “the business going through a significant transformation which incurred cost of change”.
However a spokesman for APC said it had encountered “strong growth in profit” in the second half of the year.
He added: “We’re excited about the year ahead and expect this trend to continue.”
The network introduced a 30kg weight limit on the freight moving through its network.
The spokesman said: “APC Overnight redefined its freight parameters to remove any freight from the network that didn’t play to its strengths."
The network worked with its customers to reassign freight that fell outside of the new restrictions.
APC also developed a series of new services, which were rolled out in the current financial year, to end 31 March 2017.
These included an international partnership with Air Menzies International, a deal with Whistl to offer lower rates on second class mail, and a next day click and collect parcel locker service with InPost.
