Britvic has ended its distribution contract with Eddie Stobart, and Wincanton is understood to be handling movements from 1 April. The result of the re-tender ends a long-term relationship between Stobart and Britvic: the operator picked up the distribution contract for the soft drink manufacturer in April 2011, breaking Wincanton’s sole service provider status with the company at the time. Operators across the UK are expected to lower subcontractor rates in light of falling fuel prices, said the RHA, after it emerged Wincanton’s general haulage operation had reviewed subcontractor rates for this reason.
Wincanton has won a five year storage and distribution contract with children’s toy and furniture manufacturer Worlds Apart. Annually, the contract will see the firm deliver 20,000 orders to around 1,350 locations, including homes and retailers. Wincanton has won a three year contract with Coca-Cola to run the confectioner’s warehouse in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
